Please remember the kittens..!

I’m in a good mood today so instead of bagging another SEO loser I’m going to be a little more positive. StepForth Placement have pretty good SEO beginners article in their last newsletter entitled Demystifying Your Competitor’s Ranking Success.

There is some useful stuff in there though I’m certain many web masters would cringe at the idea of newbies running Xenu’s Link Sleuth against a 10000+ page website just to get some stats.

So take note before you run Xenu against any of my sites:

One of my favorite blogs at the moment is IncrediBILL’s Random Rants. IncrediBILL is documenting his personal crusade against scrapers and other nasties. It makes for both informative and very funny reading.

For those who are feeling adventurous there is a great Blocking Badly Behaved Bots forum on Webmaster World and a sample php script .

brrreeeport ?

Posted in Groovers on February 17th, 2006

I’m not sure if it really counts as SEO or spam but it is pretty cool anyway. Basically Robert Scoble of Scobleizer fame is asking bloggers to post the word brrreeeport. The purpose of this seemingly strange request is to get bloggers automatically listed in Technorati’s search results for the keyword brrreeeport . This has some interesting implications. Firstly “” is currently the top searched keyword in Technorati. Secondly, it allows SEO’ s and others to track the propagation of the word through search engines which may provide information of their ranking algorithms.

Of course what’s the use of a new internet meme if it doesn’t have a website and in this instance there is no exception. Someone has already registered brrreeeport.com and pointed it to their “brrreeeport” blog.
